The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over 3 million active members across the world. Through local groups (each known as a “Praesidium”) Legion of Mary members are dedicated to the sanctification of its members by prayer and active apostolic work in union with Mary.
Members of the Legion of Mary Queen of Peace Praesidium are committed evangelists who meet weekly for planning, prayer, and discussion. Meetings are held every Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. in the Lafayette Parish Public Library in downtown. The group is responsible for the annual Our Lady of Fatima Outdoor Rosary, the First Saturday in May Outdoor Rosary, the Children of Mary 1st Saturday Mass, Holy Hour, Visitations to the sick and shut-in, and Rosaries at the Wake and Funeral.
Those interested in joining the Legion are invited to attend one of its weekly meetings to learn more. For more information, email President Judy W. Gobert at jwgobert@yahoo.com or call the Parish Office at (337) 233-1591.
